The Oak Bay Firefighters Charitable Foundation is proud to support local students as they take the next step in their educational journey. Through our annual bursary program, we recognize graduating students who demonstrate leadership, integrity, community involvement, and a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Our Five Annual Bursary Awards

• Ken Gill Memorial Bursaries – Two Awards of $3,000: Established in memory of Ken Gill, these bursaries honour his legacy of service, compassion, and dedication to the community. They are awarded to two graduating students who exemplify outstanding character, a strong commitment to helping others, and the values that Ken embodied throughout his life.
• Three Pillars of Excellence Bursaries – Three Awards of $1,000: These bursaries recognize students who reflect the Foundation's three core pillars:
  • Community Service: Demonstrating a meaningful commitment to serving others and strengthening the community.
  • Leadership: Leading by example through initiative, responsibility, and positive influence.
  • Personal Excellence: Showing perseverance, integrity, and dedication in academics, athletics, employment, or personal growth.

Selection Criteria & Pathways

Recipients are selected through an application process that considers character, volunteerism, leadership, community involvement, and future aspirations, recognizing that success extends far beyond the classroom.

The Oak Bay Firefighters Charitable Foundation is honoured to invest in the next generation of leaders and looks forward to supporting students as they pursue university degrees, technical certifications, trades, or other career pathways.

How to Apply

Graduating Oak Bay High School students can apply each spring through the official Oak Bay High School Scholarship & Bursary Committee. For guidance and submission dates, students are encouraged to contact the school counselling department.
